Streets Alive organised one of the UK's largest car free days in Bristol Sat 19th September
We made one of Bristol's city centre streets come alive for the day on Sat. 19th September. This is part of the UK's In Town Without My Car Day events and is in conjunction with Bristol City Council. It is also part of Bristol's Cycling City initiative.
In addition to there being no cars for the day, an unusually relaxed atmosphere of the Corn Street area was created with Garden Lounges. Other interactive activities for the 5000 people to enjoy were:
Wacky Bikes for all ages Creative arts and bunting making on cycling themes Have-a-go bike trails for adults Dr Bike maintenance Street entertainment with the Ambling Band Travel Information Stalls with local groups
Here you can see photos of the previous events in 2007 and 2008.
